Why update your property information
Keeping your mailing address, ownership details, and school support declaration up to date makes sure you get your property assessment notices and tax bills on time. It also helps us protect your account from fraud and ensures you receive all important notices about your property.
Mailing address changes
Use the Change of Mailing Address form to tell us where to send your mail. You can also update your address instantly in Wrenford eProperty if you have an account. Changes take effect the next time we send a notice. Remember, you must still pay your property tax by the deadline even if the bill is delayed in the mail or sent to an old address.
Ownership and name changes
The City gets ownership details from Ontario Land Registry Services. We do not process title transfers. When a property is bought or sold, your lawyer registers the change at the registry. Once the registry processes it, we automatically update our records. If you need to correct a name on the title, such as after a marriage, divorce, or death, you must complete the appropriate forms with Ontario Land Registry Services first. The City will update your account once the official title change is filed.
School support declaration
Ontario law requires property owners to declare whether they are eligible for school support tax relief. You must submit a School Support Declaration form every year. You can submit it online through Wrenford eProperty or mail it to us. Filing on time avoids delays in processing your tax bill and ensures you are not charged a late filing penalty.
Authorizing a representative
If you want someone else to discuss your property account or sign documents for you, you must name them as an authorized representative. Submit the Agent Authorization form for individuals or corporations. We will not share account details or tax information with anyone who is not on file. This protects your privacy and keeps your account secure.
Tax instalment plans and payments
If you are moving or selling a property, you must cancel your enrolment in the Wrenford Tax Instalment Plan (WTIP) before the 22nd of the month before your next payment is due. You can enrol in a new plan for your new property at the same time. You can manage your plan or make a one-time payment through Wrenford eProperty or by calling the Property Tax office. Learn more about payment plans on Property Tax Payment Options.
