How to report a parking issue
Whether a parking meter is broken, a sign is missing, or a vehicle is blocking a fire hydrant, tell us and we will send the right team. You can report most issues online, by phone, or by email. Our goal is to keep streets safe and parking fair for everyone.

Broken parking meters and pay stations
If a parking meter or pay station on the street is not working, please report it. Do not park in a spot with a broken meter—you could still receive a ticket under the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. When you report it, note the meter number (usually on the side or top of the machine) and the street address.
In high-demand areas like downtown, you will often see solar-powered pay stations instead of traditional meters. These machines accept coins, credit cards, and mobile payments. If the screen goes black, the card reader is stuck, or you did not receive a receipt, report the machine immediately. You can also try using a nearby meter or the official parking app while we repair the faulty unit.
Unenforced parking bylaws and violations
We rely on residents to help keep our streets safe and clear. If you see a vehicle parked illegally, such as in a bus lane, loading zone, or without paying for time-limited parking, report it. Our by-law officers monitor these areas and take action when needed. Common violations include:
- Parking in a restricted zone without a valid permit
- Blocking a driveway, crosswalk, or fire hydrant
- Parking in a bus-only lane during active hours (6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday to Friday)
- Leaving a vehicle abandoned on the street for more than 72 hours
Obstructions and hazards
A broken parking sign, an unmarked restricted zone, or a vehicle parked illegally can cause confusion and block traffic. Tell us so we can dispatch an officer or adjust the signage. If you notice a damaged meter or pay station that poses a safety risk, report it as a priority.
