How to report a parking issue
If you spot a malfunctioning meter, a faded sign, or a car blocking a hydrant, let us know so we can send the appropriate crew. You have the option to file a report online, by phone, or via email. We aim to ensure that parking remains equitable and streets stay secure for all residents.
Broken parking meters and pay stations
Please notify us if a street meter or pay station is not functioning. Do not assume you are safe from a ticket just because the meter is broken; the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 still applies. When you submit a report, make sure to record the meter number (typically found on the side or top) and the specific street address.
In busy areas such as downtown, solar-powered pay stations are common replacements for older models. These units take coins, cards, and mobile payments. Should the display go dark, the card slot jam, or a receipt fail to print, report the machine right away. You might also use a nearby working meter or the official parking app while we fix the broken unit.
Unenforced parking bylaws and violations
Residents play a key role in maintaining safe and clear streets. If you observe a vehicle parked illegally, such as in a bus lane, loading zone, or without paying for time-limited parking, report it. Our by-law officers patrol these zones and take action when necessary. Frequent violations include:
- Parking in a restricted zone without a valid permit
- Blocking a driveway, crosswalk, or fire hydrant
- Parking in a bus-only lane during active hours (6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday to Friday)
- Leaving a vehicle abandoned on the street for more than 72 hours
Obstructions and hazards
A damaged sign, an unmarked restricted area, or an illegally parked vehicle can create confusion and block traffic. Tell us so we can send an officer or update the signage. If you see a damaged meter or pay station that presents a safety risk, please report it as a priority.

We cannot act on anonymous reports, so please leave your contact information. Our team reviews every report within two business days. If a meter needs repair, we dispatch a contractor.
