How the City handles donation and sponsorship requests
Every year, community groups, non-profit organisations, and event organisers ask the City of Wrenford for financial support, equipment, or in-kind donations. This policy makes sure we use public resources fairly, transparently, and in a way that benefits the whole community.
We do not have a single pot of money set aside for donations. Instead, requests are reviewed by the department that manages the relevant budget or service. For example, a request for sports equipment goes to Recreation & Culture, while a request for street signage goes to City Services.
What we consider
When reviewing a request, we look at several factors:
- Community benefit: Will the donation or sponsorship help Wrenford residents?
- Alignment with City priorities: Does the request match our Official Plan or Council's strategic goals?
- Availability of funds or resources: Is there budget or stock available this year?
- Alternative funding: Have you explored other grants, sponsorships, or fundraising options?
What we do not fund
Public money and City assets are reserved for public benefit. We generally cannot support:
- Political parties, candidates, or election campaigns
- Private businesses seeking direct profit or advertising space
- Religious organisations for worship or proselytising activities
- Personal expenses or individual scholarships not tied to a City program
- Requests that duplicate services already provided by the City
How to submit a request
Please submit your request through the Donation and Sponsorship Request Form. You must provide:
- Your organisation's details and contact information
- A clear description of the event, program, or need
- The specific type of support you are asking for (cash, equipment, volunteer hours, or signage)
- A brief outline of how the request aligns with community goals
Submit your form at least fourteen business days before the event or the date you need the support. Requests submitted with less notice may not be reviewed in time.
Decision timeline
Once we receive a complete application, a department manager or director will review it. You will receive a written decision within ten business days. If your request is approved, we will outline the terms. If it is declined, we will explain why and suggest alternative funding sources or community partners.
Reporting and acknowledgements
If you receive a donation or sponsorship, you must acknowledge the City's support in your event materials, press releases, and public reports. We may also ask for a brief post-event summary to help us improve how we allocate resources in the future.
