Reports and decisions
Summer aquatic centres schedule — The committee reviewed the operating plan for the 2026 season. Staff recommended extending daily hours for Kingfisher Outdoor Pool and the Wildrye Splash Pad to match the new water conservation upgrades. When you visit these facilities this July, you will see the longer hours in effect. The motion to approve the extended schedule was carried unanimously.
Corvid Creek Ravine trail maintenance — Staff presented a report on the ongoing trail repair project in the environmentally significant area. The committee approved the selection of a local contractor to replace worn boardwalk sections and improve drainage. The work will begin in early August, so you can expect smoother paths and fewer puddles on the trail.
Draft summer events calendar — Members reviewed proposed dates and safety plans for events at Centennial Gardens and Benchlands Lookout Park. The committee approved the calendar and directed staff to finalize permits with the Wrenford Police Service Board and Fire Rescue. If you plan to attend summer events, the dates are now set.
Mixed-use development on Mercer Street — Staff reviewed a site plan amendment for a proposed mixed-use building. Members asked for additional details on traffic impact and green space design. The motion to defer the application was carried. The file is set for August 4, 2026.
Winter maintenance planning — The committee discussed the draft schedule for snow clearing and parking restrictions. Staff will present a final report at the September meeting. Carried unanimously.
By-laws
None were passed. The committee recommends by-laws to City Council for final approval.
