Reports and Decisions

Spring Street Sweeping Programme

We presented the proposed neighbourhood rotation for the annual spring street sweeping programme. The committee approved the schedule, which will run from April 13 to May 17. Please move your vehicle from the affected streets each morning between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Carried unanimously.

Ambrel Lake Park Affordable Housing Development

You will see a site plan for the new mixed-use housing project adjacent to the park. The committee reviewed the plan and recommended approval to Council with a condition that the developer includes a publicly accessible plaza and upgraded pedestrian lighting along the trailhead. The motion passed 4-0, with Mayor Okafor-Price abstaining due to a prior conflict of interest declaration.

Transit Priority Lanes on Tamsin Street

A progress report on the transit priority lanes outlined in By-law 2023-161 was tabled. Infrastructure and Planning staff confirmed that traffic calming measures and curb extensions are on track for completion before the fall transit season. The committee noted the update and directed staff to continue public outreach.

West Nile Virus Surveillance Plan

The committee received the annual West Nile virus catch-basin treatment schedule. Tamsin Valley Public Health leads the surveillance programme, while City crews apply the approved larvicide to catch basins across the city from June through September. The committee approved the budget allocation for the treatment supplies. Carried unanimously.

Development Applications Review

The committee reviewed the quarterly report on development applications. Staff noted that processing times have improved, and applicants can expect a decision within four weeks for standard residential projects. Carried unanimously.

By-laws

No by-laws were considered at this meeting. Remember that committees only make recommendations; Council passes all by-laws at the monthly sitting.

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
