Reports and Decisions

2025 Heritage Conservation Grants
We reviewed the annual grant program and your community's applications. The committee voted to recommend three projects for funding, covering historic façade repairs, interior preservation, and heritage signage. This brings the total recommended grants for the year to eight. You can see the full list of recommended projects on our website once Council gives final approval.

Heritage Alteration Permit By-law 2025-148
Staff shared an update on how the new permit process is working. Since the by-law took effect in April, the Heritage Planner has processed twelve applications. We discussed common questions from residents and approved a simplified application checklist. You can download it from the city website to make your future submissions easier.

Canada Day in the Park Heritage Display
The Events Coordinator proposed a historical exhibit at Centennial Gardens featuring photographs and artifacts from the Old Mill Museum & Archives. The committee approved the display plan and authorized staff to coordinate with the library board for additional reading materials.

No by-laws were passed at this meeting. The Heritage Advisory Committee recommends changes to by-laws for Council consideration.
