Report tree issues or apply for permits

You can keep our urban forest healthy by reporting street trees that are diseased, damaged, or blocking a view. Submit a Service Request online or call 311, and our urban forestry crew will inspect the tree and let you know the next steps. For trees on private property, you must follow the rules in the tree protection by-law. In most cases, you need a permit before pruning or removing a protected tree.

Pesticide and pest management

The City treats catch basins and parks to control mosquitoes and other pests, especially during the West Nile season from June to September. We also manage weeds in right-of-ways to keep sightlines clear for drivers and pedestrians.

If you have chemical sensitivities or allergies, you can stay informed about where and when the City applies treatments. Call the Pesticide Advisory Line at 519-555-0140 for a daily recorded update. The line tells you what products crews are using, which streets or subdivisions are scheduled, and which areas have already been treated.

Community Tree Ambassador Program

The City is looking for volunteers to join the Community Tree Ambassador program. Ambassadors work with neighbourhood groups, business improvement areas, and residents' associations to promote tree planting and care in Wrenford. Duties include organizing volunteer planting days, gathering ideas for new planting locations, submitting tree-related Service Requests, and sharing tips on how to keep trees healthy.

Urban Forestry staff provide training on tree care basics, how to submit Service Requests, and the rules in the tree protection by-law. If your group or individual household is interested in becoming a Community Tree Ambassador, email Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner, at [email protected].

Yard waste and tree care

Pruned branches and leafy yard waste can be placed in paper yard waste bags for curbside collection. We collect these bags biweekly from April through November. For more details on drop-off schedules and acceptable materials, visit Garbage & Recycling.
