What you need to know
In Wrenford, the province issues liquor licences through the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB). The City of Wrenford reviews your proposal to make sure it fits our community standards and local rules. You must get City approval before the LCRB can issue your permit.
Before you apply
Book a pre-consultation meeting with a Business Licensing Officer. We will look at your location, zoning, and the surrounding area to tell you what to expect. You must bring a site plan, building elevations, and a written summary of your business. You also need written proof that the property owner agrees to your application.
Documents you must submit
- Completed LCRB Liquor Primary Licence Application form
- Letter explaining your management experience, food service level, and proposed entertainment
- Floor plan showing all tables, seating, patios, smoking areas, and exact room dimensions
- Proof of your vested interest in the property (lease or deed)
- Front elevation rendering if you are building new or changing the exterior
City review steps
Once we receive your application, our Licensing Officer shares it with the Wrenford Police Service, Fire Station 1 (Headquarters), and Planning & Development. They will check for safety, policing capacity, and compliance with the Official Plan and Zoning By-law.
Neighbourhood notification
We will mail a notice to every home and business within two blocks of your location. The notice asks for feedback within three weeks. You must also place a temporary site sign at your location. The sign must be white with black lettering, measure 4 feet by 8 feet, and sit at least 3 metres from your property line. Remove the sign within one week after the City makes a decision.
Public meeting
If the neighbourhood has strong opinions or your plan is near homes, we will hold a public meeting. You will present your plan, and local residents and business owners can ask questions. We record who attends and whether they support or oppose the proposal. We do not take verbatim minutes.
Fees
The City charges a $350.00 processing fee. This covers the staff review, neighbourhood mail-out, and sign installation check. If a telephone survey is required, you will pay a separate fee to cover the survey cost.
How to submit
Send your complete application package to the Business Licensing Office. You can drop it off at Wrenford City Hall or email it. You must book your pre-consultation meeting first.
