About the Heritage Plaque Program
Wrenford recognises historic buildings that help tell the story of our community. If your property is legally protected under the Heritage register or a conservation agreement, it may be eligible for an official heritage marker. These plaques acknowledge the value of our shared history and help residents and visitors learn about the neighbourhood.
What the Plaque Looks Like
Our markers are made of durable cast aluminium. They feature a stylized wren and a wave representing the Tamsin River, finished in the city's heritage blue. The reverse side is stamped with the City of Wrenford seal. The design is simple so the information stands out clearly against older brick or stone facades.
Information on the Marker
Each plaque lists your street address, the year the building was constructed, and the name of the original architect or builder. We also include a short note explaining why the property matters to our community. If your building has a unique story, we can include a brief mention of significant events or former owners.
How to Apply
Property owners can request a marker at any time. The Heritage Advisory Committee reviews applications quarterly. After you submit your request, a Heritage Planner will visit your property to confirm the final wording and check the placement location. We schedule the installation during the spring or fall to avoid winter weather delays.
Fees and Costs
The City covers the design and casting of the marker. There is a one-time placement fee of $150.00 to cover installation, site preparation, and a small plaque maintenance fund. You can pay this fee when you submit your application or after approval.
