Westbrook park lighting upgrade

Details on the 2019 LED lighting installation at Westbrook park.

Westbrook park lighting upgrade

The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce the completion of the new LED lighting installation at Westbrook park. This project, launched earlier this year, was designed to enhance safety and extend the hours of enjoyment for residents using the park’s pathways and open spaces. The upgrade replaces older, high-maintenance sodium-vapour fixtures with energy-efficient LED units that provide brighter, more consistent illumination.

Work began in March 2019 and concluded in late May. The new lights are positioned to minimize glare for nearby residents while ensuring clear visibility along the main walking routes. If you have noticed a difference in the evening ambiance of the park, it is due to these improvements. The City thanks the community for their patience during the construction period.

These fixtures are part of a broader municipal effort to reduce energy consumption and lower long-term maintenance costs. By switching to LED technology, the City expects to see a significant reduction in electricity usage and fewer service calls for bulb replacements. This aligns with our commitment to sustainable urban planning and fiscal responsibility.

Residents are reminded that while the park is now better lit, all standard park bylaws and rules remain in effect. Please continue to use the pathways responsibly and report any damaged fixtures or lighting issues to the City. You can reach us by calling 519-555-0100 or using the Wrenford 311 service line. Emails regarding park infrastructure should be sent to [email protected].

For those interested in using the park for events, please note that the new lighting does not alter the regulations for evening gatherings. If you plan to host a private event, you must still apply for a park rental permit in advance. Additionally, if you wish to plant flowers or install decorations near the new light poles, you may need to apply for a park pathway permit to ensure the equipment is not obstructed.

We hope you enjoy the improved visibility and safety at Westbrook park. The City is committed to maintaining these assets to serve the Westbrook neighbourhood and the wider community for years to come.
