Kingfisher park trail maintenance

Get ready to get outdoors. The City of Wrenford is kicking off its annual trail clearing and repair program for 2021. This work focuses on the extensive network of pathways and natural trails in the Kingfisher neighbourhood. Our crews will be removing winter debris, trimming back overgrown vegetation, and repairing any damage caused by ice and snow. We want to ensure your routes are safe and accessible for walking, cycling, and jogging.

Work is scheduled to begin in early spring, once the ground has thawed sufficiently. Crews will start at the northern edge of the neighbourhood near the rail line and work their way south towards the Ashgrove boundary. You may notice heavy machinery and workers on the trails between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please stay off the marked work zones for your safety. If you see a crew, give them plenty of space and follow any instructions they provide.

We are also addressing specific repair needs identified in last year’s inspection. This includes stabilizing eroded sections near Ambrel Lake and replacing loose gravel on the main loop path. These improvements will help prevent future damage and reduce the need for frequent fixes. If you notice any new hazards, such as downed trees or washed-out sections, please report them by calling Wrenford 311 or emailing [email protected].

Remember to check [[Learn about park bylaws and rules]] before you head out. While we work to keep the trails in good condition, it is still your responsibility to watch for wet or slippery surfaces, especially near the water. Dogs must be under effective control at all times. Please refer to [[Find off-leash dog areas]] for designated zones where your pet can roam freely.

We appreciate your patience as we complete these essential upgrades. A well-maintained trail system makes Kingfisher a better place to live and play. Thank you for helping us keep Wrenford beautiful. We look forward to seeing you on the trails this spring.
