Benchlands Park Playground Upgrade
The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce the completion of the new playground equipment installation at Benchlands Park. This project was part of our ongoing commitment to providing safe, accessible, and engaging recreational spaces for residents of all ages. The upgrade was carried out during the spring of 2022, ensuring the area is ready for the summer season.
Project Details
The previous equipment had reached the end of its useful life and was replaced with modern, inclusive structures designed to meet current safety standards. The new installation features a multi-level play structure, accessible ramps, and sensory play panels. We have also added new rubberized safety surfacing to reduce the risk of injury from falls.
Safety and Compliance
All equipment has been inspected and certified in accordance with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards. The City’s Parks & Trails department conducts regular inspections to ensure the playground remains safe for public use. If you notice any damage or safety hazards, please report them immediately by calling Wrenford 311 or emailing [email protected].
Community Feedback
Before selecting the new equipment, the City held a community consultation process. Residents provided valuable input on the types of equipment they wanted, including more climbing structures and shaded areas. We listened to your feedback and incorporated these elements into the final design. Your participation helped shape this project.
Usage and Bylaws
When using the playground, please remember to follow [[Learn about park bylaws and rules | park bylaws and rules]]. This includes supervising children at all times, cleaning up after pets, and respecting other park users. The playground is open from dawn to dusk. Please note that [[Check parking regulations and bylaws | parking regulations]] apply in the adjacent lot. Do not block access roads or emergency entrances.
Future Maintenance
The City plans to perform routine maintenance on the playground throughout the year. This includes checking for loose bolts, replacing worn parts, and resurfacing as needed. For more information on how we maintain our parks, see [[Learn about park maintenance services | park maintenance services]].
We hope you enjoy the new Benchlands Park playground. It is a wonderful space for families to connect and play together. For a list of other playgrounds in the City, visit [[Find playgrounds and splash pads | Find playgrounds and splash pads]].
