Apply for a park permit
If you are planning a special event, festival, or temporary installation in any of Wrenford’s public parks, you must submit a formal application for a park permit. This requirement applies to all residents and organizations using spaces in neighborhoods such as Downtown, Riverside Flats, Fallsview, or the Benchlands. The City of Wrenford manages these spaces to ensure they remain safe, accessible, and enjoyable for all residents.
Who needs a permit
You must apply for a permit if your event involves any of the following activities:
- Setting up temporary structures, such as tents, stages, or canopies.
- Using amplified sound or loudspeakers.
- Blocking sidewalks, parking lanes, or park pathways.
- Selling goods or services, including food and beverages.
- Conducting commercial photography or film shoots.
- Hosting large gatherings that may exceed standard casual use of the park.
Casual picnics, small family gatherings, or individual recreational activities do not require a permit. However, if you are unsure whether your event qualifies, it is best to submit an application to avoid penalties.
How to apply
To request permission, you must complete the official Park Permit Application Form. This form is available through the Parks & Trails booking page on the City of Wrenford website. You can also pick up a printed copy at the Wrenford 311 service line office or the main City Hall reception desk.
When completing the form, provide detailed information about your event, including the proposed date, time, location, and expected number of attendees. You must also outline your plan for waste management, cleanup, and safety. If your event involves electricity or heavy equipment, you will need to provide additional documentation regarding insurance and liability coverage.
Submission and fees
Submit your completed application at least thirty days before your planned event date. Late submissions may be rejected or subject to a processing fee. There is no cost to submit the application itself, but approval is subject to a permit fee based on the size and scope of your event. Payment is collected upon approval.
What happens next
After you submit your application, a Parks & Trails officer will review your request. They will check for conflicts with existing bookings and ensure your plans comply with City by-laws. You will receive a notification regarding the status of your application via the contact method provided in the form. If approved, you will receive your permit document, which must be displayed at the event site. If denied, you will receive a written explanation and information on the appeals process.
