Ambrel Lake boat launch

Welcome to the Ambrel Lake boat launch, located in the Ambrel Lake neighbourhood. This facility provides public access to the lake for recreational boating. Please read the following usage rules carefully before you arrive.

Hours of operation

The boat launch is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. during the 2022 season. Access is prohibited outside these hours. Please ensure you have removed all vessels and equipment from the ramp and parking area by 10:00 p.m. to avoid any issues with Check parking regulations and bylaws.

Usage rules

All boaters must follow Ontario boating safety regulations. Life jackets must be worn by children under the age of eight and must be readily accessible for all other passengers. Personal watercraft are permitted in designated zones only. Motorized boats must not exceed idle speed within 50 metres of the shore or other vessels.

Camping is not permitted at the boat launch area. If you are planning a longer stay, please check the Community gardens page for information on other park facilities, though camping is generally restricted to designated campgrounds only.

Pets must be kept on a leash at all times when not in the water. Please clean up after your pet and dispose of waste in the provided bins. For more information on pet regulations, see Find off-leash dog areas.

Permits and fees

There is no fee to use the boat launch itself. However, if you plan to store a vessel in the adjacent municipal parking lot for more than 24 hours, you may need a seasonal parking permit. Contact the City for details on Learn about park parking permits.

If you wish to host a boating event or race that requires road closures or special use of the launch area, you must apply for a Apply for a park rental permit at least 30 days in advance. Applications for 2022 events are currently being processed.

Maintenance and safety

The ramp is maintained by the City Parks Department. Report any damage, debris, or safety hazards to the City by calling 519-555-0100 or using the Wrenford 311 service line. Do not attempt repairs yourself.
