Orchard Park Winter Skating Rink
Welcome to the Orchard Park outdoor rink. This facility is part of the City’s commitment to keeping our community active during the colder months. Located in the Orchard Park neighbourhood, this rink is open to all residents for free public skating.
2022 Season Hours
The rink is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Please note that hours may change due to weather conditions or maintenance schedules. The City will endeavour to keep the surface in play as long as temperatures permit.
Surface Preparation and Maintenance
The City’s Parks and Recreation staff are responsible for maintaining the ice surface. Resurfacing occurs nightly, typically between 10:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m., depending on ice thickness and ambient temperature. During periods of extreme cold or warm spells, the surface may be closed temporarily for repairs or resurfacing. Please check [[Facility information and hours]] for the most current status updates.
Skaters are asked to respect the maintenance window. Do not enter the rink until the resurfacing equipment has cleared the area and the gates are reopened. Entering the ice during maintenance is dangerous and may result in a fine under [[by-law]].
Rules and Safety
Skaters must wear appropriate footwear. Blades must be sharp and free of rust. Helmets are strongly recommended for all ages, especially for children. Please supervise children at all times. The rink is not supervised by lifeguards or ice guards. Skaters participate at their own risk.
Food and drink are permitted in designated areas only. Glass containers are prohibited on the ice surface. Please clean up after yourself and use the waste bins provided.
Accessibility
The Orchard Park rink features accessible pathways from the parking area to the rink entrance. For more details on [[Accessibility features at facilities]], please contact the City.
