Report a single-use cup violation

Learn how to report a single-use cup violation in Wrenford and what happens when By-law Enforcement receives your report.

What the rule covers

Wrenford's Single-Use Cup Reduction By-law limits the use of disposable cups at food service locations to help cut down on waste. If you see a business giving out non-compliant cups, you can report it. The by-law applies to all restaurants, cafes, and food trucks in the city.

How to report a violation

You can submit a report using the Service Wrenford online form or by calling our By-law Enforcement line. When you report, please include:

  • The business name and address
  • The date and time you noticed the violation
  • A description of what happened (for example, the number of cups given out)
  • Your contact information (optional, but it helps us follow up with you)

Reports submitted online are logged immediately. Phone reports are taken Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What happens next

Our By-law Enforcement team reviews every report. Here is how the process usually works:

  1. Initial review: An officer checks the details within three business days.
  2. Investigation: An officer may visit the location or review business records to confirm the violation.
  3. Education and warning: For a first offence, we usually send a notice to the business explaining the rules and giving them 14 days to fix the issue.
  4. Enforcement action: If the business ignores the warning or keeps breaking the rule, the officer can issue a provincial offences ticket. You can also follow up on your report through the Service Wrenford portal.

We keep your identity confidential unless your information is required for a court case. You will not be contacted if the business is already in compliance or if the report is found to be inaccurate.
