Did we miss your garbage, recycling, or organics?

If your bins were not picked up on your scheduled day, check the common reasons below. If none of these apply, you can report a missed collection online or by phone.

Check your collection schedule and alerts

Garbage is collected biweekly, while Blue Box recycling and Green Bin organics are collected weekly. If your neighbourhood is listed in a collection alert, crews may need to visit later in the day or the next day. Alerts are usually posted after the collection day has ended. Collection runs from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but crews work through the afternoon in some areas.

Common reasons for a missed pickup

Collection trucks are large and need enough room to move safely. Your bins may be missed if:

  • Your bins were not set out by 7:00 a.m. on collection day.
  • There is snow, ice, or heavy rain that makes the street unsafe.
  • Construction, utility work, or parked vehicles block the truck.
  • Your bins are too heavy, overfilled, or have loose bags on top.
  • Wrong items are in your bins, or recyclables are jammed too tight.
  • A notice tag is already on your bin explaining a problem.

What to do if you get a notice tag

Our crews may leave a yellow notice tag on your bin if it does not meet collection standards. This is an education tool to help you sort your waste correctly. Please fix the error and leave your bins out on your next scheduled day. Do not submit a missed pickup request for a tagged bin.

Report a missed collection

If your bins were missed for no clear reason, please submit a service request. You must report each bin that was missed separately.

You can report a missed pickup by:

City Services staff will review your request and send a crew to collect your bins as soon as possible. Please keep your bins out on your next scheduled day until the issue is resolved.

Where to take items that cannot be picked up

If you have items that are not accepted curbside, you can bring them to the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility or the Northgate Drop-off Depot. Visit the facility page for hours and accepted materials.
