City of Wrenford water crews begin their fall flushing programme on Monday, September 28, starting in the north end neighbourhoods. Crews will work through Northgate, Kingfisher, Railside and Copper Ridge over the coming weeks to test water pressure, check for leaks and keep the water in your taps fresh.
Flushing sends a controlled burst of water through the pipes to clear out sediment and ensure consistent pressure. You might notice brown or cloudy water when you turn on a tap during these operations. This is normal and not a health risk. Simply run the cold water in your sink or bathtub for five to ten minutes until it runs clear. Do not run hot water, as sediment can enter your water heater.
If you have questions about the schedule or need to report a problem, contact Water & Wastewater at 519-555-0100 or visit us at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
"We run these neighbourhoods twice a year to keep the system healthy and the water safe," says Patrick Nguyen, Water Operations Manager. "It is a quick process, and we ask for your patience while the crews work through the area."
You can sign up for text and email alerts to know exactly when crews are coming to your street. Visit our the schedule page for the full route map, contact information and tips on what to do if your water turns cloudy or if you experience a break.
