Wrenford Public Library Main Branch closed March 12 for IT upgrades

The Wrenford Public Library’s Main Branch at 150 Mercer Street will close on Thursday, March 12, 2026, for a full day of IT system upgrades. The library board and staff will use the time to replace aging hardware and refresh the public computer terminals.

During the closure, the Main Branch will not offer walk-in service, self-checkout kiosks, or public Wi-Fi. All other branches remain open on their regular schedules. The Northgate Branch at 900 Northgate Boulevard and the Ambrel Lake Branch inside the recreation centre at 1300 Ambrel Lake Road will continue operating normally.

Residents who have holds or items due on March 12 will not be charged late fees. The library will automatically extend all due dates by one week to cover the closure. If you need to return materials before the branch reopens, you can use the secure book drop located outside the Main Branch entrance on Mercer Street.

"We know that reliable internet and updated computer systems are essential for everyone in the community," said City Manager Robert Eng. "This short shutdown lets us make sure our digital services run smoothly for the rest of the year."

The upgrades will improve the speed of the public catalogue system and allow the library to roll out a new digital literacy program in the spring. Staff will also take the opportunity to deep-clean the computer workstations and replace worn-out keyboards and mice.

For questions about the closure, please visit the Contact page or call the library directly at 519-555-0130. You can also check the Service Alerts page for any updates on branch hours.
