Wrenford Public Library launches autumn reading challenge for youth

The Wrenford Public Library is inviting young readers in Wrenford to dive into its new Autumn Reading Challenge, running from October 1 through December 15. The program is designed for children and teens aged five to seventeen, with different reading goals and activities for each age group. Participants can pick up a reading log at any of the three library branches — the Main Branch on Mercer Street, the Northgate Branch, or the Ambrel Lake Branch — and track their books throughout the season.

There are three levels in the challenge. Young readers aged five to eight will work toward reading ten books, while those aged nine to twelve will aim for fifteen. Teens aged thirteen to seventeen will challenge themselves with twenty books. Alongside reading, the library is hosting monthly story times, craft workshops, and author visits at each branch. Families can also join the Wrenford Youth Hub for free snacks and reading games after school on weekdays.

"Reading is a lifelong skill that brings people together," said Tara Sandhu, Chief Executive Officer of the Wrenford Public Library Board. "This autumn challenge gives our youth a chance to explore new stories, make friends, and celebrate what they've learned. We hope to see lots of young readers stopping by the library this season."

Registration is free and open to all Wrenford residents. You do not need a library card to take part, but having one makes it easier to borrow books and access the library's digital resources. Visit any branch or go online to view the full schedule of events and download a printable reading log.
