Work to improve pedestrian safety and traffic calming at the Wrenford Police Service Headquarters begins Monday, October 12. The project focuses on the area around 75 Albert Street, where crews will install new curb ramps, repaint crosswalks, and add traffic calming measures to protect staff and visitors.
Over the next four weeks, you may notice construction vehicles and equipment on Albert Street between Mercer Street and Tamsin Street. The City will temporarily close on-street parking along the east side of the street during this time. Please use alternate routes if you need to access nearby businesses or the downtown core. Temporary detour signs will be in place.
“This upgrade is about making sure everyone who visits or works at the headquarters feels safe and supported,” said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. “Better sight lines, wider sidewalks, and clear crosswalk markings make a big difference in busy urban areas. We are working closely with the Police Service to keep the site secure while we work.”
The work will happen between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. There will be no lane closures, but expect minor delays near the intersection of Albert and Mercer Streets. Crews will complete all work by the end of the month.
If you have questions about the project, you can reach us through the City Services contact centre or visit Roads & Winter Maintenance for full details on traffic changes and winter parking rules. You can also report any damage or concerns using our online service request form.
Thank you for your patience while we make the area safer for everyone.
