Wrenford Ice Days returns to Ambrel Lake with new sculpture contest

The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that Wrenford Ice Days returns this February. This year, the festival moves from Riverside Flats Park to Ambrel Lake Park for Family Day weekend, running from Friday, February 13 to Sunday, February 15, 2026, and will feature outdoor skating, winter games, and a brand-new public sculpture contest.

Skating at the Ambrel Lake rink will be free for everyone. The park will host winter games for all ages, including snowball tosses, snowshoe races, and hot chocolate stations. We are also launching the first-ever Ambrel Lake Winter Sculpture Contest. Artists, families, and community groups can build ice and snow sculptures right by the lake. The contest is free to enter, and teams can use natural materials or bring their own supplies. A panel of local judges will award prizes on Sunday for the most creative design and the best use of recycled items. You do not need to be a professional artist to join in.

"We are thrilled to bring Wrenford Ice Days to Ambrel Lake," says Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "It is a wonderful chance for families to enjoy the outdoors, stay active, and show off their creativity together."

Here is what you need to know to enjoy the weekend. Dress in warm, waterproof layers and bring your own skates. The rink is unattended, so please use it at your own risk and follow all posted rules. Keep pets, strollers, and glass containers off the ice. If you want to enter the sculpture contest, register your team online or at the Wrenford City Hall front desk by Thursday, February 12. You will need to pick up your sculpture markers and judging sheets at the event site on Friday morning.
