The City of Wrenford is launching the Wrenford Headstone Restoration Initiative on May 3, 2026, to help you care for memorials at Wrenford Cemetery. Managed by the Roads & Winter Maintenance department, the program will repair cracked stones and reset markers that have shifted over time. This effort ensures that the grounds remain safe for visitors and that your family history is preserved for years to come.
Winter weather and natural ground movement can cause headstones to lean, crack, or settle unevenly. The initiative focuses on structural repairs and resetting. It does not cover new engraving, painting, or replacing missing pieces. City crews will assess each marker on-site and carry out the approved work using traditional methods that match the original stone. You are encouraged to visit the cemetery beforehand to check your family plots and take notes on any damage.
"We want to make sure these memorials remain safe, upright, and accessible for future generations," said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "Many of our oldest markers need careful attention, and this program helps us keep the cemetery in good condition for everyone who comes to visit."
If you want your headstone repaired, you must submit an application through the City's online portal. There is a $75.00 application fee per marker. The City will review your request and contact you with an approved schedule. Please allow six weeks for the review process, as crews must coordinate with the broader roads and grounds schedule. For questions or to submit your application, email [email protected] or call 519-555-0127.
