City crews finished their final snow plow run on March 19, marking the official end of the winter maintenance season. The overnight on-street parking ban, which ran from December 1 to March 31 between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., is now lifted. Residents can once again park on residential streets without worrying about snow removal clearances.
Over the past months, crews worked around the clock to keep the city moving. Main roads were plowed after five centimetres of snow, while residential streets were cleared after eight centimetres. The 24-hour snow and ice control operations ensured that major routes were cleared quickly, and transit stops were kept accessible for commuters. Crews also maintained key pedestrian pathways and trailheads, including the Tamsin River Trail System, to keep walkers and cyclists safe.
“We have heard from the community that they want residential streets cleared sooner,” said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. “By expanding our operations to 24/7, we were able to clear streets faster and get everyone back to their daily routines safely. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation throughout the season.”
As the snow melts, please help us get ready for spring. Clear your driveways completely so crews can access your property for spring street sweeping, which begins in April. Check your vehicle tires and brakes before driving on wet, slushy roads. If you notice potholes or drainage issues as the ground thaws, report them through Wrenford 311 or the Service Wrenford portal.
