Starting this week, the Wildrye Splash Pad at Wildrye Park is officially open for the season, offering families in Ward 6 a new place to cool off. The splash pad, located at 90 Wildrye Drive, now includes upgraded water features and has passed all required safety and water quality checks ahead of the summer rush.
The City's Parks & Trails team finished the final equipment inspections earlier this month. Crews tested the spray nozzles, ground drainage, and water filtration systems to make sure everything meets provincial health and safety standards. Tamsin Valley Public Health also reviewed the water quality testing protocols before opening the site to the public.
Residents will notice the new water elements, including a wider spray field, adjustable misting arches, and two interactive water tables designed for younger children. The surrounding paved area was also expanded to improve visibility for parents and caregivers.
The splash pad is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., weather permitting. Families are encouraged to bring sunscreen and water bottles. As always, children must be supervised by an adult at all times. There is no fee to use the splash pad, and it is fully accessible for visitors using wheelchairs or strollers.
"We wanted to create a safe, inclusive space where kids of all ages can play together," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "These upgrades will help us serve the growing Wildrye neighbourhood while keeping water quality and safety as our top priorities."
