Westbrook Community Arena roof repairs finished 2026

The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that the major roof repairs at the Westbrook Community Arena are complete. The facility at 40 Westbrook Drive, which houses two ice pads and a multi-purpose community hall, reopened to the public on March 11, 2026. The three-month construction project was finished ahead of the spring recreation registration period, ensuring the arena is fully operational for summer programming and fall sports leagues.

Crews from Roads & Winter Maintenance, working alongside contracted builders, carefully removed deteriorated membrane panels and installed new waterproof roofing across the main building footprint. The project also included repairs to the exterior drainage system and downspouts to prevent future water pooling around the foundation. Construction teams maintained strict safety protocols during the work, using temporary barriers to keep the public skating rink and parking lot accessible where possible.

"The roof was showing significant wear from the harsh winters, and replacing it now protects our investment for years to come," said Samuel Adeyemi, General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning. "We kept the work schedule tight so the ice plant and community hall could return to full operation without delay."

Residents can now resume booking the arena for public skating, hockey leagues, and community meetings. The facility remains open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekends.
