Westbrook Arena ice resurfacing system upgrade complete

The City's infrastructure and maintenance teams have finished upgrading the ice resurfacing system at Westbrook Community Arena. The project wrapped up on February 25, 2026, just in time for the busy spring recreational season. Located at 40 Westbrook Drive, the arena has operated with an older resurfacing machine for the past 15 years. The new equipment cuts daily water use by roughly 30 per cent and delivers a smoother, more consistent ice sheet. These improvements mean the arena can run more public skate sessions and community hockey programs with less downtime for daily maintenance.

The upgrade was funded through the City's capital improvement program, which tracks major building and facility projects across Wrenford. You can view the status of ongoing and completed facility projects through the Development Applications portal. The portal also lists upcoming infrastructure work and allows you to track planning applications for private development. By keeping the capital planning process open, the City ensures that community facilities remain safe and modern for future use.

"We are pleased to have the new equipment up and running," said Samuel Adeyemi, GM Infrastructure and Planning. "A reliable ice plant means fewer schedule changes for league teams and a better experience for families visiting the rink."

There are no changes to booking procedures or skating hours. You can still reserve ice time or purchase season passes online or by calling the arena front desk at 519-555-0122. The Westbrook Community Arena continues to operate as a key hub for public skating, community hockey, and local events.
