Waste diversion master plan review opens for public comment

The City of Wrenford is opening public comment on the updated Waste Management Master Plan. The review period runs from March 17 to April 15, 2026. Residents can share their ideas online or drop by the Civic Operations Centre on March 25 for an in-person session.

The master plan lays out how the City will manage trash, recycling, and organics for the next decade. Right now, Wrenford diverts 60 per cent of residential waste from the landfill. The updated plan sets a target of 70 per cent diversion by 2040. To reach that goal, the City is reviewing curbside collection schedules, Green Bin contents, and the rules for drop-off depots like the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility. The plan also looks at how the City can better support businesses and multi-unit buildings in sorting their waste.

"Getting this plan right means making sure every household and business has clear, practical ways to keep materials out of the landfill," says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. "We want the next steps to be easy to follow and fair for everyone."

Residents can take the online survey through the feedback portal linked below. If you have questions about how the changes might affect your neighbourhood, you can also email the City Services team or call 519-555-0100. The City will review all comments and present a final report to Council this fall.
