Tamsin River Run returns with new family fun zone

Get ready to lace up your running shoes or bring the whole family for the Tamsin River Run. The annual event returns on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Riverside Flats Park, where organisers are welcoming runners, walkers, and volunteers back to the Tamsin River Trail for a day of fitness and community fun.

This year, the event features a brand-new Family Fun Zone right next to the start line. Kids and parents can enjoy interactive games, local food trucks, and live music from local performers. The main running route stays true to the river, offering flat, paved paths that wind through the city centre and along the water. Participants can choose from a five-kilometre fun run or a ten-kilometre competitive race. Both routes will be fully marked and supported by water stations every kilometre.

To keep the trail safe and clear, the City will close sections of the Tamsin River Trail and nearby streets from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on race day. If you plan to drive to the park, please use the Downtown Transit Terminal or park at the Northgate Drop-off Depot and take a free shuttle to the start line. Registration is open until August 1, 2026, through the Wrenford Recreation Online portal. Early registration keeps your fee lower, and on-site registration is available on the morning of the event, though spots may fill up quickly.

"We want this run to be a celebration for everyone in Wrenford," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "The new Family Fun Zone is our way of making sure that whether you are running for a personal best or just walking with your kids, you feel welcome and entertained all day long."
