The City of Wrenford has released the complete schedule and route map for the annual Tamsin River Run on Saturday, May 23. The 64-kilometre trail race will start at Riverside Flats Park in Ward 1 and finish at Benchlands Lookout Park in Ward 2, welcoming runners and walkers through the city's most scenic neighbourhoods.
The course will feature a 5-kilometre family fun run starting at 8:00 a.m., a 10-kilometre open run at 8:30 a.m., and a half-marathon at 9:00 a.m. Participants will cross the Centennial Bridge, loop around Ambrel Lake, and finish with a final sprint along the Corvid Creek Ravine trailhead. Race day registration opens at 6:30 a.m., with a mandatory packet pickup starting at 7:00 a.m. for all pre-registered runners.
"We want this year's run to be safer, smoother, and more accessible for everyone," said Marcus Lindqvist, City Councillor for Ward 1, whose ward includes the start and finish lines. "By mapping out clear access points and volunteer stations along the trail, we are ensuring that participants have support at every turn while keeping the river corridor open for our community."
Runners should arrive early so you have enough time for timing chip registration and a quick safety briefing. Stroller and wheelchair participants are welcome on the paved sections of the trail, with designated start times at 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m., respectively. You will find water stations at the 2-kilometre, 5-kilometre, and 10-kilometre marks, staffed by volunteers from the Wrenford Public Library and local neighbourhood associations.
To keep the event running smoothly, the City will close a few trail access points and adjacent streets during the race window. You should expect minor delays along Benchlands Drive and Eastfield Road between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. For a complete list of street closures, detours, and public transit adjustments, please check the Service Alerts page on race morning. Whether you are competing for a personal best or walking the course to support a friend, the Tamsin River Run is a celebration of our city's most iconic trail system.
