Snow clearing routes shift for Tamsin River Run event

The City of Wrenford is adjusting its snow clearing routes along the Tamsin River Trail corridor starting Monday, March 2, to protect the multi-use trail surface and prepare for spring community events, including the Tamsin River Run.

Roads & Winter Maintenance crews will divert salt and sand trucks away from the trailhead at Riverside Flats Park and the adjacent gravel and dirt sections of the trail. This temporary rerouting ensures that heavy winter equipment does not damage the newly prepared trail base and allows maintenance staff to finish spring upgrades ahead of the May race.

Residents living along Water Street, Mill Street, and the lower sections of Fallsview Road will see their usual clearing schedules shift by one to two days. The City will still clear all snow from the asphalt roads, but crews will use smaller plows and avoid the soft shoulders where the trail connects.

What residents need to do

Park on your street as usual during the overnight parking ban, but be aware that your street might be cleared slightly later than normal. If you have a driveway or garage, moving your car during the ban will help crews work faster and keep the trail access clear for maintenance staff.

"We want to make sure the Tamsin River Trail is in perfect condition for runners and walkers this spring, so we are making a few temporary adjustments to our winter clearing schedule," said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "The road surface will still be safe and passable, and the change only lasts until the trail is fully open for spring."
