Crews from Roads & Winter Maintenance are repairing and resurfacing trails at Riverside Flats Park starting May 15, 2026. The work will continue through June 12. You should expect minor delays and follow detour signs when you use the Tamsin River Trail System during this time.
The trail runs through Riverside Flats Park and is a popular route for walkers, runners, and cyclists. Winter freeze-thaw cycles and heavy spring use have caused some uneven surfaces and drainage issues. To fix this, the Parks & Trails team is regrading the path, improving the base layer, and adding fresh crushed stone and gravel. The project is part of a broader effort to keep the 64-kilometre trail network safe and comfortable for everyone.
Trail users will see narrow sections where work crews are active. You can use the paved sidewalk along Water Street or follow the temporary detour markers to bypass the repair zones. The team is working Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to keep noise to a minimum.
“We want to make sure the trail is safe and comfortable for everyone who uses it to walk, jog, or ride their bike,” says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. “These repairs will keep the surface stable for years to come and reduce mud and puddles during rainy weeks.”
While the repairs are underway, please stay on the marked paths and do not enter the work zone. You can report missed collections, potholes, or other issues using the online service centre. The city aims to finish all trail work by June 12 so you can enjoy the full route for the busy summer season.
