This Saturday, October 4, the City of Wrenford is hosting a fall cleanup and native planting day at Riverside Flats Park. City crews will team up with local volunteers and conservation groups to tidy the trailhead and refresh the riverbank along the Tamsin River.
The event focuses on picking up litter left along the Tamsin River Trail System, removing invasive weeds, and planting native species like wildflowers and grasses. These plants will help hold the soil in place and give local pollinators a place to feed as the season changes. The cleanup will also cover the paths that lead toward the Corvid Creek Ravine Natural Area.
"Taking care of our parks and trails keeps them safe and welcoming for everyone," says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "When we remove litter and plant natives, we are protecting the Tamsin River for the next generation."
Residents who want to help should register online by Wednesday. The City will provide gloves, grabbers, trash bags, and saplings. Volunteers can drop in any time between 9:00 a.m. and noon. Meet the crew at the event lawn near the washrooms. Water and light snacks will be available. Families are welcome to bring children, but please keep pets on a short leash so they do not disturb the new plantings.
