The exterior painting project at the Railside Gallery, 300 Railside Road, is complete. The scaffolding was removed and Railside Road reopened to traffic on Friday, August 7, 2026.
The work, which began in late July, focused on weatherproofing the building's facade, repairing masonry, and applying fresh paint to the street-facing walls. The project required temporary lane closures and a detour for local traffic while crews worked at height. Roads & Winter Maintenance crews coordinated the street closures and traffic control to keep the corridor moving safely during business hours.
"We worked closely with the gallery owners to schedule the scaffolding and road work around their operating hours," said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "The fresh coat of paint will protect the building for years to come, and the completed streetscape looks great."
Residents living near the gallery can expect normal traffic patterns to resume immediately. If you notice any damage to the curb or sidewalk caused by the construction work, please report it through the online service request tool or call 311. The Roads & Winter Maintenance team will send a crew to assess the area and arrange repairs if needed.
As part of the broader downtown revitalization effort, the city has prioritized building maintenance and streetscape improvements in the Railside and Mill Street area. These upgrades help keep our historic buildings safe and welcoming for visitors and business owners alike.
