Northgate Aquatic Centre reopens May 10 after mechanical repairs

The Northgate Aquatic Centre reopens to the public on Friday, May 10, after the City's Water Operations team and licensed contractors completed essential mechanical repairs. Crews worked through the long weekend to upgrade the main filtration system and fix plumbing in the dive tank.

The facility was temporarily closed from Monday, May 4, through Thursday, May 9, to allow crews to safely access the mechanical rooms and replace worn components. All upgrades meet provincial health and safety standards, and the centre is fully ready for the summer season.

"The mechanical upgrades will improve water quality and circulation throughout the facility, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for everyone," said Robert Eng, City Manager. "We appreciate the community's patience while we addressed these necessary repairs ahead of the busy summer schedule."

Residents who planned to visit the aquatic centre over the past few days are reminded that the 50-metre lap pool, leisure pool, dive tank, and waterslide are all fully operational again. The fitness centre and program rooms are also open. The centre will operate on its standard summer schedule: Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
