The City of Wrenford's Recreation & Culture department is pleased to announce the 2026 summer programming schedule for the Northgate Aquatic Centre at 910 Northgate Boulevard. The centre opens for the season on June 1, 2026, and you can register for swim lessons, group fitness classes, and general admission starting that Monday.
The facility will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with weekend hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This year's schedule features expanded hours for the 50-metre lap pool, new youth waterslide sessions, and adult aqua fitness classes. The dive tank will host regional competitions in July and August, with priority lanes reserved for participating swim clubs.
All programming is funded through the approved 2026 operating budget, which covers staff salaries, water quality monitoring, and routine equipment upkeep. The budget ensures the centre can maintain high safety standards while keeping drop-in fees accessible for you. You can review the full recreation budget allocation on the current annual budget report.
"We want to make sure every resident has a safe, welcoming place to exercise and learn this summer," says Robert Eng, City Manager. "The schedule reflects community feedback and balances public access with the needs of competitive swimmers."
You can sign up online or at the centre's front desk. If you are part of a swim club or community group, you must submit your time requests by May 31 to secure preferred slots. Day passes and family rates are available for you if you visit as a walk-in.
