Get ready to bundle up and enjoy the magic of the season! The City of Wrenford is thrilled to announce that Lights at the Falls returns on November 29. This beloved holiday event will once again transform the area around Wrenford Falls and the Centennial Bridge into a sparkling wonderland for residents of all ages.
Visitors can stroll along the Tamsin River Trail to view over 500,000 energy-efficient LED lights. The evening will feature live music from the Fallsview Arts Centre ensemble, hot chocolate from local vendors, and a special visit from Santa at Riverside Flats Park. Families can enter their homes or neighbourhoods for a chance to win a gift basket of local goods. Registration for the community lighting contest opens on October 15.
As we prepare for the event and the upcoming winter months, the City reminds residents to take a few simple steps to protect their water systems. Freezing temperatures can damage outdoor pipes and meters. Please remember to shut off your outdoor water valves and drain all garden hoses before the first freeze. You can find detailed instructions on how to properly close your outdoor taps and protect your pipes in our Water service line maintenance and repair guide.
Additionally, crews will be conducting the fall water main flushing schedule throughout October and November. If you notice temporary discoloration in your tap water during this time, simply run the cold water tap for a few minutes until it runs clear. Learn more about the Water main flushing schedule and info and sign up for text alerts so you know exactly when crews will be working in your neighbourhood.
“Lights at the Falls is one of the most cherished traditions in our community,” said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “We are so grateful to the volunteers and local businesses who make it possible, and we look forward to sharing another magical evening by the river with everyone.”
The event is free and open to the public.
