The City of Wrenford has completed repairs to the irrigation system at Larch Heights Golf Course, bringing the 18-hole municipal course back to full operation ahead of the busy summer season. Crews from Roads & Winter Maintenance and Parks & Trails responded to a major valve failure and cracked mainline pipes on Wrenford Line earlier this month. The work involved digging up the damaged sections, replacing the aging control panels, and installing new high-efficiency sprinkler heads across the fairways and greens.
Earlier this month, construction crews had to coordinate closely with the Roads & Winter Maintenance team to protect the road surface while trenching for new water lines. All roadways around the clubhouse and parking lots were restored to their original condition, and traffic flow was never interrupted during the work.
The upgrade was necessary after several weeks of dry weather put extra strain on the old system. The new controllers now use soil moisture sensors to adjust watering schedules automatically, which helps us save water while keeping the turf in great shape. "The upgraded system will help us manage water use more efficiently while keeping the greens in top condition all season," says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner.
If you notice any sprinklers running continuously, leaking water onto the road, or missing heads, report it through Service Wrenford or by calling 311. The course is open daily, and you can find tee time details on the Larch Heights Golf Course page.
