Kingfisher Pool staff training begins ahead of July opening

Wrenford recreation staff began safety and operations training at Kingfisher Outdoor Pool on Tuesday, May 12. The training runs through the end of May, giving lifeguards, maintenance crews and program coordinators time to prepare for the seasonal opening in July.

Staff are working through equipment checks, safety drills and customer service modules. Maintenance crews will test the filtration system, check the splash pad connections and ensure all deck surfaces meet City safety standards. Lifeguards are practicing rescue techniques and reviewing emergency response plans. Program coordinators are finalizing the schedule for swim lessons, family swims and drop-in sessions.

"Getting our teams ready this early means a safe, fun summer for everyone," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "We want to make sure every shift runs smoothly from day one, so residents can focus on cooling off and enjoying the water."

Kingfisher Outdoor Pool is scheduled to open in July and will operate through Labour Day. The facility features a seasonal outdoor pool and a splash pad. Hours of operation will be posted on the Facility information and hours page closer to the opening date.

Residents should check Service Alerts and the City's social media channels for any weather-related opening changes. If you are planning a visit, remember to bring a towel, swimwear and a valid City recreation card for drop-in sessions. You can also register for swimming lessons and book drop-in public swims through the online registration portal.
