Kingfisher Outdoor Pool opening delayed to May 30 due to weather

Residents who planned to visit the Kingfisher Outdoor Pool for a quick dip or to use the splash pad should expect a slightly later start this year. Due to cooler-than-average temperatures and several days of rain, the City has moved the official opening date to Monday, May 30.

Pool staff need the water to reach a comfortable temperature and the surrounding deck to dry completely before opening to the public. The recent wet weather has kept the air and ground temperature low, making it unsafe to run the pool equipment and treat the water just yet. City crews are monitoring the forecast daily and will open the gates as soon as conditions are right.

"We know many families are looking forward to getting outside, but water safety and equipment care come first," says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "Once the sun stays out and the overnight lows stay above ten degrees Celsius for a week, we will flip the switch and welcome everyone in."

The splash pad will open at the same time as the pool. Lifeguards will be on duty from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily, with extended hours on weekends. Standard admission fees apply, and you can use a Leisure Access Card at the front desk. Please follow all posted pool rules and supervise children at all times.
