Kingfisher Outdoor Pool officially closed for the 2026 season

The City of Wrenford has officially closed Kingfisher Outdoor Pool and its splash pad for the 2026 season as of today, October 20. This seasonal closure marks the end of summer aquatic operations across the city.

If you enjoyed swimming at Kingfisher Outdoor Pool this summer, you can still visit the city's indoor aquatic centres. The Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre and Northgate Aquatic Centre remain open year-round with lap swimming, leisure pools, and waterslides. Winter recreation registration opens on December 1, 2026, for programs running from December through February.

"Closing our outdoor pools is always the last step in a long season, but we are proud of the staff and volunteers who kept Kingfisher Outdoor Pool safe and welcoming all summer long," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "We encourage you to keep active and join us indoors for our winter swim lessons, lap lanes, and family swim sessions."

The splash pad will remain drained and secured until the spring. Maintenance crews will begin preparing the facility for winter this week, which includes draining pipes, covering equipment, and securing the grounds for the next season. Please remember that the closed area is not a public walkway, so keep your children and pets off the grounds. If you notice any damage or have questions about the winterization process, you can contact the Parks & Trails team through Wrenford 311.

You can find more information on indoor aquatic programs and registration dates on the Programs page. If you are interested in upcoming facility upgrades or construction projects at other aquatic sites, you can view current Development Applications on the city's planning portal.
