The Kingfisher Outdoor Pool will close on Monday, September 7, 2026, for its annual winterization and maintenance. The splash pad adjacent to the pool will close at the same time. This seasonal shutdown is a standard part of the outdoor aquatic operating schedule.
During the closure, City crews will drain the pool, clean and service the filtration system, and winterize all mechanical equipment. Staff will also inspect the deck and fencing to ensure the site is secure and ready for the next summer season.
Residents who enjoy swimming while the outdoor facilities are offline have several indoor options nearby. The Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre features a 25-metre lap pool and a leisure pool open Monday to Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The Northgate Aquatic Centre offers a 50-metre competition pool and a dive tank, operating Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Both centres run year-round swim programs, and you can view current schedules and book sessions online.
"We appreciate the community's support over the busy summer months," says Caroline Dubé, Recreation Programs Coordinator. "Winterization is an essential step that keeps our outdoor pools safe and fully operational for the next season."
