A new agility course and upgraded fencing are coming to the Hollis Park Off-Leash Area this summer, making it safer and more fun for Wrenford's dogs and their owners.
The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that construction on the upgraded off-leash area at Hollis Park will begin next week. The project adds a dedicated agility course with tunnels, weave poles, and low jumps, alongside expanded fencing to separate dog zones. The improvements follow feedback from local residents and dog owners through the City's Parks & Trails engagement process.
"We're always looking for ways to improve our public greenspaces so they work well for everyone," says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "Adding an agility course gives our canine neighbours a great place to exercise and play, while the new layout keeps the park comfortable for families and other visitors."
Construction is scheduled to run from late May through July. Crews will install the new surfacing, fencing, and agility equipment at the corner of Hollis Park Drive and the existing walking loop. Residents can expect some temporary noise and minor lane closures on Hollis Park Drive during work hours. The City will post updates on the Service Alerts page as work progresses.
The City's Parks & Trails team worked with the Arts & Heritage department to integrate artistic elements and native plantings into the new course, ensuring the space reflects the community-focused design goals for Wrenford's public areas.
Once complete, the expanded off-leash area will be open for use. For more information on park rules, dog licensing, and off-leash regulations, visit the Hollis Park Off-Leash Area page.
