First electric bus from third phase enters service on route 12

On January 20, 2026, Wrenford Transit added a zero-emission bus to Route 12, which runs between Wildrye and Benchlands. This delivery marks the start of the third phase of the Wrenford Transit Zero-Emission Fleet Plan.

The new vehicle joins a growing fleet of clean-energy buses. As part of the city's diversified fleet strategy, electric models are deployed on shorter routes where they can complete their daily runs without needing a mid-day charge. Each bus can travel up to 310 kilometres on a single charge. The quiet motor and smooth ride make these buses especially well suited for neighbourhood streets and busy downtown corridors. "Getting more zero-emission buses on the road is a practical step toward a cleaner, quieter city," said Daniel Osei, Transit Manager. "Residents on Route 12 will notice less exhaust and less noise, and the new vehicles work seamlessly with our digital booking tools to keep service reliable."

Check the live schedule and trip planner in the Wrenford Transit app. The app handles fare purchases, real-time bus tracking, and service alerts. You can also view printed timetables at the Downtown Transit Terminal or pick one up at Wrenford City Hall.

The City continues to invest in sustainable transit through provincial and federal funding. The next phase of the electrification plan will target Routes 3 and 8, adding electric and hybrid models to the northern and industrial corridors.
