Fire Station 4 construction reaches framing milestone

Wrenford public works crews and contractors have reached a major milestone at the Fire Station 4 site on Ambrel Lake Road. As of February 17, 2026, the structural framing is complete, and the building is ready for roofing and exterior work. The project is on track to open its doors in early 2027.

The new station will sit at 1220 Ambrel Lake Road, serving the growing Ambrel Lake neighbourhood. Over the past decade, the area has seen a steady rise in new homes and families. This new facility will cut down emergency response times for residents in the south-east part of the city and give firefighters a modern base to run their daily operations.

Fire Station 4 is designed to do more than house fire trucks. The building will include a multi-purpose room that local groups can book for meetings and small events. It will also have a publicly accessible washroom for pedestrians using the nearby Tamsin River Trail System, and a dedicated recycling bin for area residents to drop off hard-to-recycle items between regular collection days.

"Investing in Fire Station 4 is a direct investment in the safety and comfort of our neighbours," said City Manager Robert Eng. "We are building a station that responds quickly to emergencies while also serving as a friendly gathering spot for the community."

The City of Wrenford approved the capital project and site plan through the Development Applications process earlier this year. Residents who want to see the approved drawings or follow the construction schedule can view the project details on our planning portal.

Work will continue through the spring and summer. Drivers on Ambrel Lake Road should expect occasional lane shifts as crews move materials around the site. The City will post service alerts if any road closures become necessary.
