The March and April first aid training sessions at Fire Station 3 have filled up quickly. The Wrenford Fire Rescue team is offering hands-on courses in CPR, choking response, and bleeding control for residents and community groups. The classes are designed for neighbourhood associations, local business owners, and anyone who wants to feel prepared for a medical emergency.
Each course runs for three hours and covers the basics of using an automated external defibrillator (AED), checking a scene for safety, and providing care until paramedics arrive. Sessions are held on weekday evenings and one Saturday morning each month. Because demand has been high, all dates through May are now full.
If you missed the March and April sessions, you can add your name to the official waitlist. The City will open two new sessions in June based on waitlist size. To join the list or ask questions, visit the registration page online or call Wrenford 311. There is no fee for residents, and all equipment is provided. The training room is fully accessible and wheelchair-friendly. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Water is provided.
"We want every neighbourhood to have residents who can step in during an emergency," says Deputy Fire Chief Simon Hartley. "These sessions take just a few hours but give people the confidence and skills to save a life."
