Election day set for October 26 as candidates file documents

Wrenford’s next municipal election will take place on Monday, October 26, 2026, and the window for candidates to file their nomination papers at Wrenford City Hall is now open. The election will determine who serves as mayor and who will represent each of the six wards on City Council for the 2026–2030 term.

Nomination documents can be submitted at 100 Mercer Street through the close of business on October 20. City Clerk Nadia Kowalczyk is available to review completed paperwork and answer questions about the nomination process. All nominees must meet the eligibility requirements set out in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.

Voters can cast their ballots during advance voting from Friday, October 23, to Monday, October 26, or on election day itself. Election day polls will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at all designated voting stations across the city. Residents are encouraged to vote at the location closest to their home, but will be accepted at any station in Wrenford.

Before heading to the polls, voters should confirm their registration with Elections Ontario. Eligible voters can check their status online or register in person during advance voting. Those who register on election day will need two pieces of identification, with at least one showing their signature. A voter information card will be mailed to eligible residents in the coming days.

"Municipal elections are a chance for residents to have a direct say in how our community grows and what services we focus on," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "I encourage every eligible voter to take part and help shape the future of Wrenford."

The decisions made by the next council will have a lasting impact on neighbourhood development, public safety, and the local economy. Residents interested in how municipal policy supports business growth can learn more about the work of the Economic Development team, which partners with the Wrenford Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Wrenford BIA to keep our local economy strong.

Full details on advance voting locations, candidate forums, and election results will be posted on the Elections page. For more information about the roles and responsibilities of elected officials, visit the City Government section.
