The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that the resurfacing project at the Eastfield Twin Arenas (620 Eastfield Road) is now complete. The work restored the two ice pads and summer ball hockey surfaces ahead of the 2026–2027 recreational season.
Crews from the Roads & Winter Maintenance division removed the worn synthetic surface, repaired the base drainage, and installed a new high-performance ice sheet. The upgrade ensures consistent freeze times, better puck bounce, and improved safety for skaters and athletes. The project was completed on schedule this spring, allowing the Wrenford Recreation Department to begin ice conditioning for the upcoming season.
"Community arenas are the backbone of our winter and summer sports programs. Getting this surface ready on time means your local leagues, youth hockey, and ball hockey tournaments can start without delay," said Samuel Adeyemi, General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning. "We also made sure the drainage improvements will handle our spring thaw better, so you will see fewer maintenance interruptions throughout the year."
The Eastfield Twin Arenas continue to serve the Eastfield neighbourhood and surrounding areas with public skating, learn-to-skate sessions, and community ice hockey. The facility also hosts summer ball hockey and community events on the outdoor pads. Please check the schedule online before heading out, as ice times can shift with weather and league bookings. You can view the current ice schedule and book rinks through the Facilities page.
