The City of Wrenford is closing the ice surfaces at Eastfield Twin Arenas for summer maintenance starting today, July 13, 2026. The two ice pads at 620 Eastfield Road will transition to their summer use while crews complete essential repairs and equipment servicing.
Recreation staff will drain the refrigeration lines, remove the ice resurfacing machines, and inspect the arena boards and drains. This annual shutdown allows crews to fix minor cracks in the concrete, replace worn padding, and ensure the mechanical systems are ready for the next winter. While the ice is down, the arenas will host summer ball hockey programs.
The City appreciates the patience of skaters and league organizers as the facility prepares for the long off-season. Residents can still visit the building to pick up schedule information or drop off equipment.
"Summer maintenance is just as important as the ice itself," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Taking the time to service the refrigeration plant and the boards now means safer rinks and more reliable ice when registration opens in December."
